Wow it seems Angela has thrown me to the wolves… Can’t say I expected to have 30 comments on my first post. I mentioned in my first post that I would post about Hidden TV’s. This is something I saw online first at www.seura.com. While these look absolutely beautiful they are way too much $$$$$ in my mind.
I was searching YouTube and came across this video that displays the capabilities perfectly. This system was done by www.jvelectronics.org.
Being a DIY’er myself, I can’t justify buying this as a package (TV/Mirror combo). I did some searching on Google to find out exactly what type of Mirror I need to get. From various message boards, people mentioned that you could get a 2-way mirror at your local Glass/Mirror shop, but they did mention that there are many variations. I emailed Jose @ JV Electronics to see what he used in the video above and was pleasantly surprised at how helpful he was. They use “Dielectric Mirrors” and even sell DIY kits that have brackets to hold the Mirror to the TV. I also found the site: www.hiddentelevision.com which will sell the mirrors as well. I have no personal experience with these companies and I haven’t seen one of these mirrors up in person but I’m dreaming up a few projects that I can find a use for them.

As you notice in the video above you will get a high reflection so possibly not the best for viewing in the daylight. One of the idea’s I wanted to use this for was a Jukebox player in the basement. I’m hoping to put together a touch screen display (if I use a touch-screen kit overtop of the Mirror) and put it in the wall with slick frame around it, I think it could look amazing.
Has anyone seen these before? If anyone has any personal experience with these, please let me know as I’m dying to get my hands on some. Sometime in the near future I’ll consider buying some samples. Should I ever put this in use, you’ll be sure to see it on the blog.
